Magnus Jager
Lord Magnus Jager is a member of Hus Faerhaga, squire to Earl Yngvar the Dismal,
and a resident of the Shire of Black water. His first event was in the Barony of Concordia of the Snows many years ago AS XXIII or so.
It was in those early years that he first started brewing, a skill which he has practiced for nearly 20 years. He has also participated in heavy weapons.
He was granted his AOA by then Prince Rurik in AS XXXI for brewing “a lot of bit” of beer. In AS XXXIV he was granted his order of the Sycamore for brewing as well.
And then in AS XXXV he was granted his Golden Alce for Heavy combat.
His interests in Brewing have lead him to research traditional bring methods such as Stein Beer Brewing which is the art of using stones “stein” heated in a fire to introduce the heat needed to brew. In AS XLIV at the Shire of Hartstone Hunters Moon event he did a demonstration on this brewing method encouraging others to participate in brewing in this method, an art he has practiced both in and out of the SCA for over a decade. He also presented a paper on this style of brewing at the Known World Bardic Congress and Cooks Collegium on this process and his experiences. Magnus also enjoys growing and using his own hops, making meads, trying new brews.
His interests in Heavy combat lead him to become man at arms to THL Kai Saerpren, and this year to squire to Sir Yngvar. Magnus’ interests in heavy combat are eclectic with authorizations in all forms and participating in tournaments and melees whenever he can.
Magnus also has interests in Viking society especially in Orkney, where he visited the ruins of Viking settlements along with Maes Howe an ancient stone tomb that due to having been a onetime hiding place now houses a fine collection of Viking runes.
