Renata Rouge, known as the "posh rot", during her teen-aged years, life consisted of theater; community, repertoire, semi-professional, you name, that *was* Her life. Renata's love of art came from those days, when she would use the back stage as a break from on-stage. She took up painting sets, costuming and designing stage make-up all as hobbies; what else do you do between scenes? She also absorbed all that she could in high school, taking as many art classes as were offered. Unfortunately, Renata gave up on all artistic pursuits for a long time after having a family...life was simply too busy.

Once Renata joined the SCA, She re-discovered her love for painting and sewing, and has undertaken many other areas of craft, as well. Renata's passion is in illumination; in her sparse spare time between work, children and grad school, she can be found perusing period books of hours, researching period painting techniques and practicing new skills by drawing and painting clip art for various newsletters. Renata's favorite forms are later Italian illuminations and Gothic bar and ivy. She loves experimenting with diapering and white work.
