Rota Egilsdottir
As far back as I can remember I have had an avid interest in the arts and creating things with my hands. As a child, I wrote numerous stories, drew many drawings, and painted many pictures. I also dabbled in needlepoint, cross stitch, and crocheting at the guidance of my very creative mother. As I got older, my interest did not wane, but let me to take several art courses at my alma mater, King College, where I studied figure drawing and painting. In 2004, I became friends with some SCAdians and was introduced to the Arts and Sciences of the SCA. Since then I have participated faithfully in the scribal arts, embroidery (especially Viking), and clothing making (again, Viking). I have also experimented with weaving, calligraphy, leatherworking, and metalworking.
